Fort Laudedale has a few training faciltities for yacht crew from beginners to experienced sailors. All offering the courses in different degrees. from fire fightning, Sea Survival Basic medical to Interior courses, like Pursers or stewardess courses.

The one major course that one has to take  to even start in the yachting industry aas a career is the STCW ( Standards or Training, Certificates and watchkeeping) this is generally a 5 day course covering Basic First Aid, AED CPR Sea survival techniques: Survival in and out of the water, raft deployment and righting an over turned raft. Basic Fire fighting: Understanding the difference in electrical, wood / Plastic & oil based fires and what extinguisher to use to put out the fire. Personal Safety and Social responsiblities as a crew member.

Just remember, there are no hospitals and Fire Departments/Brigades to help when you are two hundred miles from shore. so you have to be able to help save your fellow crew members life.
